Rebecca Gonzalez-Tobias

Interfaith, Intercultural Educator, Social Justice Advocate
Global Trustee, United Religions Initiative

Program Director, Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Ethics

From an early age, Rebecca Gonzalez-Tobias realized that no matter what our cultural and religious differences are, we are all part of one family - the human family, and through respect for our differences we can help to make the world a better place. She has spent most of her adult life working to promote understanding and collaboration between people of different cultures and faiths. As a global trustee of the United Religions Initiative, a worldwide interfaith network, Rebecca Tobias has traveled the globe, researching and implementing best-practice programs that promote interfaith respect and understanding. She is also the program director of the Raul Wallenberg Institute of Ethics, which works to promote a culture of peace around the world through intercultural and interfaith programs. In the past she has represented the Network of Spiritual Progressives, addressing civic organizations and academic institutions to promote ethics in government and public policy. She has worked with the NGO community on a number of issues at the United Nations, including with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on Indigenous Populations issues; with the Committee of Religious NGOs on interfaith understanding; and in committees, conferences and panels on nuclear non-proliferation and water and spirituality issues.
