Félix Houphouët-Boigny
Peace Prize

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize was created during UNESCO's 25th session in 1989, in honor of the philosophy and action of the first president of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, President Félix Houphouêt-Boigny. The prize is given each year to an individual or organization that has made "a significant contribution to promoting, seeking, safeguarding or maintaining peace, in conformity with the Charter of the United Nations and the Constitution of UNESCO." Some of those honored are pictured here. For a complete list and more information: www.unesco.org/prixfhboigny/le_prix/laureats/Liste_laureat_us.htm
