Simon Wiesenthal was a Holocaust survivor who dedicated much of his life to tracking down Nazi war criminals so that they could be brought to justice for crimes against humanity. He wrote a number of books about his experiences and was the subject of an HBO movie about his life, starring Ben Kingsley. The Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, named in his honor, works to educate "by confronting antisemitism, hate and terrorism, promoting human rights and dignity … and teaching the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations."
